How easy is it to install the soothing system?
We have made the soothing system very simple to install and here’s a quick 5 step guide to show you just how easy it is:
- Set the cot base on the lowest setting
- Place the easidream soothing platform centrally on the base of the cot
-
Put the mattress back on top

- Connect the air tubing ends to the control unit and place the unit next to the cot
- Hang ewan, our dream sheep, from the cot bars
-
Which cots can it be used in?
The soothing system can be used in all standard and continental cots plus cot beds. The dimensions of the soothing platform are 104cm x 48cm x 4cm, so just as long as this will fit on the base frame of your cot, then you can use easidream. As far as we are aware, the only cots that you can’t use the soothing syetem with are circular ones.
-
What age can it be used from?
It can be used from birth to around 18 months (50lbs max)
-
Can I use it with a moses basket?

Yes, just place the soothing platform on the floor and position the moses basket centrally on top. DO NOT put the dream sheep directly in the moses basket, but place him close by.
-
Can I use it with an Angelcare® monitor?
No, easidream® will effect the functioning of an Angelcare® monitor due to the fact that it operates via motion sensors. As easidream® creates motion within the cot, an Angelcare® monitor will detect this and therefore give an incorrect reading. It is entirely at the parent's discretion if they decide to use ewan with the Angelcare® monitor, although ewan does not move at all of course – please see the Angelcare® website for a more detailed explanation.
-
How long does the timer run for?

The timer runs for 40 minutes and is made up of 5 minute increments, so you can easily programme the desired length of time that suits your baby.
-
Can I take easidream® with me if I take my baby out of the home?
Yes. easidream® is very portable for holidays, staying with parents etc. And you can take ewan, who is battery operated, separately, in the car for instance where his soothing sounds will help your baby sleep during the journey.
-
Does it matter where the plug socket is in my room?
No not at all. The soothing platform comes with 2 meters of thin air tubing so that you can cut it to the required length, once you decide where abouts the cot will be positioned in relation to the plug socket in your baby’s room. If you change the position at a later date and therefore need a new length of tubing, just contact us to buy a separate new one.
-
Why isn’t the product sound activated so that it starts automatically when my baby cries?
We spent a great deal of time researching this particular area and having consulted medical professionals, it was decided that having an automatic sound activated feature should be avoided at all costs. This was due to the fact that as the soothing system is aimed at such a vulnerable age group, it was considered vitally important that as parents, you interact with your baby when they wake up, so that you can find out exactly why your baby is distressed and take appropriate action. After having checked your baby and remedied any problem, then your little one can, of course, be returned to the soothing system and it be reset for the desired amount of time.
-
What if my baby is still crying when the timer stops?
In the unlikely event that your baby is still crying after the 45 minute timer setting has finished, then it is again extremely important that you go and check your baby to see why they are still distressed. After having checked your baby and remedied any problem, then your little one can be returned to the soothing system and it be reset for the desired amount of time.
-
How fast are the 2 speeds?

The normal speed setting, represented by 2 dots on the control unit, moves at 68 rocks per minute which is approximately in time with mum’s resting heartbeat. The slower speed, represented by 1 dot on the control unit moves at 34 rocks per muniute, and is ideal for weaning off the product.
-
What are the 2 types of motion?

The two types of motion are gently rolling from side to side – represented by a horizontal arrow on the control unit and gently rocking from head to toe – represented by a vertical arrow on the control unit.

How do I wean my baby off easidream®?
The easidream® soothing system is recommended for use from birth onwards and can be used up until the combined weight of mattress plus child does not exceed 50lbs…now that’s some weight!! But it does allow scope for the product to be used in a toddler bed should you feel your child still requires to be settled in this way. However, in most cases, babies can be weaned off the soothing system well in time for when they move from a cot to a bed. We would normally recommend that you start weaning off by their first birthday, as your baby should have been sleeping ‘through’ for a few months by now. Gradually reduce the timer in 5 minute increments over a period of around 2- 4 weeks until you reach the 5 minute setting. After this, reduce the motion to the weaning off speed and leave the unit on this setting for around 2 weeks or so. Gradually your baby will become unaccustomed to motion in the cot and after the 2 week period you should be able to try no motion at all. Please remember to use the dream sheep conituously throughout this period and beyond until he is no longer effective. We would also like to point out that as all babies are different, some may be more quickly weaned off the product than others and it really does depend entirely upon the individual baby. These guidelines are provided as a possible suggestion for weaning off, based on the experiences of our product testers.
-
Will my baby become hooked on easidream®?
It is highly unlikely that your baby will become hooked on the soothing system as he will reach a stage in his development where he outgrows the effectiveness of the motion aspect of the product – by around the age of 1 year or so, your baby will have accumulated pleasant memories of ‘sleep experiences’ outside the womb and by combining these with the natural ability to sleep ‘through’ from around 6 months, alternative sleep associations will be formed. These alternative sleep associations will more than likely be linked to the choice of sound your baby likes in our dream sheep, plus maybe our comforter (due to be released later this year) or their favourite cuddly toy.
-
Is the control unit noisy?
We’ve strived to ensure that operational noise from the control unit is as quiet as it can possibly be when in use. We didn’t want to compromise on safety, so insisted on having no electronics within the cot whatsoever. The flipside of this, is that we have both a motor and mini air pump within the control unit. Inevitably, as with all things that are both mechanical AND pneumatic, it’s been impossible to achieve perfect silence…. we’d thought we’d mention this, but hope you’ll agree that your baby actually finds the ‘gentle hum’ from the control unit, quite soothing in its own right.
-
Does the soothing platform have any electrics?

No, there is nothing electrical whatsoever contained inside or connected to the platform and it is totally safe.
-
Is the soothing system expensive to run?
No, amazingly it costs less to run than a light bulb. ewan, our dream sheep, requires 3 x AAA batteries which are supplied with him.
-
What age can I use the soothing system up to with my baby?
You can use the soothing system up until the combined weight of your child plus mattress weigh no more than 50lbs. Now that really is quite a weight as, for example, a more heavier boy at 18 months may still only weigh around 30lbs at most! We do however recommend that you wean your baby off the motion aspect of the product by the time they move from cot to bed, normally at around 18 months… please see ‘How do I wean my baby off easidream®?’ for more detail.
-
What safety standards does the easidream® soothing system comply with?
We have strived to make the easidream® soothing system as safe as possible and have been extremely vigilant in making sure that it conforms to or exceeds all recommended British and European Safety Standards: BS EN 716, BS EN 71 and CE. Our safety features also include the following: The soothing platform will not move at all if the recommended weight is exceeded – so no fun for older brothers or sisters if they jump in to test it out! Another feature is that, in the unlikely event of a limb becoming trapped between the edge of the cot mattress and the cot bars, the soothing system should not be able to move in that particular area, due to resistance – BUT you must act immediately to move the limb. If however, your baby’s limb becomes trapped within the cot bars themselves, immediate action must again be taken to release the limb, as the soothing platform may in some cases still continue to move.
-
What is the standard guarantee?
